Paso Robles is a small city located on the picturesque Central Coast of California in San Luis Obispo County. The city abuts the Salinas River as it flows west past the city on its way to the Pacific Ocean providing, as it flows, irrigation to one of California's most productive agricultural regions.

The city's full name is actually El Paso de Robles which, when translated, means “ Oak Pass ” or “The Pass of the Oaks”, an appropriate name for the abundant oak tree growth in the city's surrounding woodlands.

The Southern Pacific Railroad arrived in 1886, farmers established orchards and vineyards, cattle ranches developed and soon the city was born and was formally incorporated in 1889. Today, Paso Robles has a population of approximately 28,000 and maintains a homey, small town atmosphere.

Regarded amongst California's finest winery regions, Paso Robles is host to a yearly Zinfandel Wine Festival, drawing impressive numbers of tourists, wine producers and wine connoisseurs to the area.
